Beautiful Websites

First impressions are vital, and your website is often the first thing that someone sees when seeking out services online.

You most likely spent thousands or tens of thousands of dollars in designing and furnishing your front office and waiting area for just this reason.

No matter how good your services are behind the scenes, you won’t get the right patients through those doors without having a comfortable and professional looking waiting area and reception area.  Walking out of an office because of not loving the appearance can be a bit challenging, however clicking out of a website is something we all do everyday, don’t let that be your patient.

What to Keep In Mind When Designing a Website

When building a website for your medical practice, there are a few vital things to keep in mind:

Speed

Studies have shown that a site that loads in 1 second has a conversion rate 3x higher than a site that loads in 5 seconds.  This might not seem like much, but if you are getting 10,000 visitors per month to your site, then that could be as much as 300 potentially lost patients per month.  How much is that in dollars?  By having a website that is not fast enough, you could be missing out on tens of thousands of dollars in revenue each month!

Navigation

Unlike your physical office, you can’t control which “entrance” your online visitors use to enter your website.  They can come from any page, at any time.  It is crucial that no matter what page they enter from, they have an intuitive way to get to where they want to go, whether that be your “Schedule now” button, your “contact page” or a specific service.  Having proper menus, sidebars and internal links all help the user to navigate to where they want to go, without feeling frustrated or lost.

Colors

The colors on a website are important because of the psychological impact that different colors can have.  No doubt you already have your own logo and branding, but the overall color on your website should typically match the message you want to portray to your users.  Although entire books are written on the subject, some examples of colors and their psychological impact are:

  • Red: Creates a sense of urgency, associated with excitement and passion.
  • Blue: Associated with peace and reliability, promotes a sense of security.
  • Purple: Associated with wisdom and respect. Represents a wise and imaginative brand.
  • White: Purity, cleanliness, safety. Often promoting a modern feeling.
